1.      Scholars engaged in research leading to Ph.D. or M.Phil. degree

2.     University and college teachers engaged in research and/or teaching research methodology

3.     Social researchers in institutions or organisations engaged in research on socio-economic issues and implementation/evaluation of programmes.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: The total number of candidates for the Programme is 25 to 30 participants. The small batch of participants facilitates and fosters better interaction between instructors and participants, and among the participants themselves. Participants are also assured of individual attention and sufficient access to computer facilities for practice.

SELECTION: Preference will be given to applicants who have reached the stage of data processing/analysis or are engaged in research or teaching of research methodology. Selected candidates would be informed through E-mail or Phone (please write clearly phone number and email address).

The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) will be hosting its 14th Annual Conference on Money and Finance on April 6 and 7, 2012.
Keynote Speaker: Professor Michael Bordo, Director of the Center for Monetary and Financial History at Rutgers University and National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean‐2012

UNESCO-Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean

Purpose
Its purpose is to reward the best social science thesis written by young researchers in the Latin American and Caribbean region, and that has made a significant research contribution to the promotion of social science research geared to social development policies. The Prize shall be awarded to the author(s) of the prize-winning thesis.

Applications
Member States or Associate Members of UNESCO, non-governmental organizations and foundations that maintain official relations with UNESCO, especially those whose activities fall within the scope of the Prize are invited to nominate candidates. Members States may not submit more than three candidates for any one edition of the Prize.

Languages
Spanish and English

Periodicity
Biennial (initially for three biennia, from 2012).

Value
US $10,000 which may be divided equally among a maximum of three prizewinners. The Prize also provides for the publication of the prize-winning thesis from extrabudgetary funds, if available, with the assistance of a publishing house and under the auspices of UNESCO.
