ABOUT: Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata is organizing a Training Programme on Library Automation (TPLA): emphasizing on digital and audio-visual media from 31st May to 3rd June 2018. The main objectives of the Workshop are:
• To create awareness among professionals about open source technology & its application in library.
• To make the library professionals technically sound so as to automate their library independently without any support & also to develop the online application with the help of Content Management System.
• To enable the Library & Information Professionals to face the technological challenges such as installation, data migration, multi- branch handling etc.
• And, to strengthen the society & professionals.
Workshop Theme: The main theme of the workshop is to provide theoretical foundation as well as hands-on training keeping in mind the rapid development in the field of IT to the academic and library and information professionals. The workshop intends to cover the essential concepts and technologies for smooth functioning and building a Smart Library. A true hands-on training will be imparted to all the participants enabling them for installation and running some of the essential open source software in their libraries or information centres.

Koha: Koha is the first Open Source Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) that can take care of all library activities such as Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control & Online Public Access Catalogue. Koha is based on International library standards and protocols (such as MARC21, Z39.50 etc.) that ensures that Koha data can be exchanged between similar ILMSs. & any other library management system. Organiser/Venue: Teaching Learning Centre (TLC@CURaj), Central University of Rajasthan, Bandarsindri, Ajmer - 305817 [Funded by MHRD New Delhi under the scheme of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT)].

About the Induction Program: Teachers play an enormous role in the lives of students. They have the ability to inspire, empower, and foster environments of self-confidence, passion, and nurturance or the complete opposite. The purpose of the induction program is to support newly recruited teachers to adjust him/her self in the current environment of new workplace as an employee, a professional colleague and as a community member. The induction program is to help teachers to modernize their teaching
style, to scaffold concepts and information in a way that students can meaningfully understand and imbibe. It is also meant to train teachers about the new and effective methods of teaching and learning. The goal is also to promote the discipline specific curricula pedagogy, learning materials (including e-content) for use by the teachers in colleges and postgraduate departments/ institutions. It is to mention that as per the draft regulations of UGC-2018 an induction programme of one month shall be introduced for all newly recruited Assistant Professors in the universities /colleges/institutions ideally before the starting of their teaching work but definitely within one year of the recruitment of the new faculty member. In addition to the Human Resource Development Centers of UGC, Universities/ Institutions with Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme shall also organize such induction programmes as per their mandate. These induction programmes will be treated at par with the Orientation Programmes already being run by the Human Resource Development Centers of UGC for the purpose of CAS requirements.
