CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 which administers CHRIST 
(Deemed to be University).

Established in 1969 as Christ College, it undertook path-breaking initiatives in 
 Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff. 
The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 
2006. In 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human 
Resource Development of the Government of India, declared the institution a 
Deemed to be University, in the name and style of CHRIST (Deemed to be 
University). One of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the 
NAAC, and subsequently in 2004 and 2016, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has 
he top grade ‘A’ in the 4-point scale.

NODAL OFFICE, CHRIST (Deemed to be University)
The CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Nodal Office at Thiruvananthapuram, 
Kerala is established with the objective of reaching out to other Southern States 
of India through research, extension and consultancy. Situated in the beautiful ambience of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, the Nodal Office is 
under the administration of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore.
The Nodal Office is mandated to achieve its objective by undertaking research 
projects on pressing social issues and by organizing conferences, seminars and workshops in relevant areas with both internal and external funding and offer
Training and Development in building academic and leadership competencies in 
the region.

ACCOMMODATION
The Nodal office can guide participants to an affiliated institution for accommodation. Participants must bear the costs of accommodation and food. No advance payment is required. Participants can clear the bills at the place of stay as instructed by affiliated institution that is giving the accommodation. Accommodation may cost Rs: 300/- (approx...) per day on three sharing basis. THE ACCOMMODATION FACILITY AT THE AFFILIATED CENTER IS LIMITED AND IT WOULD BE ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. THE PARTICIPANTS CAN ALSO GET OYO ROOMS NEAR THE TRAINING CENTER.

U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, celebrating this years ‘National Library Week’ from April  08 – 13, 2019.
The highlights are: 
1. Display of Smithsonian Exhibition that explores the history and challenges of fighting infectious diseases,

3. Several other activities to encourage library usages and reading habit among patrons.

4. Round table discussion: As part of the celebrations, we invite you to join us for a round table discussion on "Proactive Librarianship: Connecting Communities" on Thursday, April 11, 2019; from 2.30 – 4.30pm at Dosti House.
This year’s theme by ALA, Libraries = Strong Communities, illustrates how today’s libraries are at the heart of our cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical resources, programs and expertise. They also provide a public space where all community members, regardless of age, culture or income level, can come together to connect and learn. The discussion will focus on designing library programs and services that encourage community members to meet and discuss various issues. We encourage you to come prepared to learn and share ideas on the topic.

INTRODUCTION:


With an increase in the number of business enterprises as well as advancement in digital technology, the world has witnessed an alarming rise in the occurrences of financial frauds/scams/offences. Recently, the Indian corporate and banking sectors were turned upside down when the activities of celebrity jeweler, Nirav Modi, were uncovered. Authorities are still trying to unravel the extent of fraud perpetrated by his company. By their very nature, financial crimes are difficult to detect in time and almost as difficult to prosecute since fraudsters can cover their trail quite well. Consequently, a new discipline of forensic accounting has evolved to investigate fraud. This comprises expertise in accounting, technology and the law. This course aims to familiarize accountants with the specialization of forensic accounting; lawyers with the assistance that can be provided by forensic accounting in fraud investigation and litigation; and management with the ways fraud can be committed, identified, assessed, managed, and prevented.
