ABOUT RESEARCH AWARDS
To appreciate research talents and for motivating the research spirit among the researchers, every year the award program is conducted for the doctorates who have got their doctoral degree from a university in the academic year proceeding the year of conference. This Program has been designed to provide an intellectual arena for research scholars, teachers, professional and academicians to create a network around the country, Archers and Elevators recognize the doctorates every year through the program and the first research awards started in the year 2015 and this is the 5^th Consecutive year.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPANTS
Those who have obtained doctoral degrees during the year 2010 and 2019 are eligible to apply. Both years inclusive.

OUTSTANDING DOCTORAL RESEARCHER AWARD 2019
Research work from each field is nominated as the best by the committee of Juries and the researcher will be awarded the ‘OUTSTANDING DOCTORAL RESEARCHER AWARD 2019’.
All the submissions of the doctoral thesis will be categorized into Science, Social Sciences and respective disciplines.http://aeph.in/?page_id=1014
All the submissions will be categorized and awards will be presented discipline wise. However decision of judges and review panel will be final.

SUBMISSION OF THESIS:
Applicants need to submit their doctoral thesis with their brief profile along with all research Publication in word format along with a scanned copy of passport size photograph.

Doctoral Thesis of all the participants will be published as book with ISBN. Each participant will be provided with five copies of their book.

AWARD & RECOGNITION:
Winners of the OUTSTANDING DOCTORAL RESEARCHER AWARD 2019 will be presented with a Certificate of Merit and an Award shield.

JUDGING CRITERIA FOR THE OUTSTANDING DOCTORAL RESEARCH AWARD 2019
The research work, to be nominated as the best, will be evaluated and judged by

1. Research Gap and justification of the study.
2. Social relevance of the study.
3. Practical Implications of the Study.

Registration Fee: Rs.8500/- [India] USD 300 [Outside India]
Registration fee includes publication of thesis with ISBN.
Award Function Date, Time and Venue will be informed later through a Separate Invitation. It will be tentatively in the month of November or December 2019.

IIT-Delhi researchers develop AI-based disease detector

The system is apt for low-resource environments, to detect malaria, TB, and cancer within seconds.

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi have created a low-power electronic hardware system, based on artificial intelligence (AI), which is capable of detecting malaria, tuberculosis, intestinal parasite and cervical cancer within a few milliseconds.
The researchers aim to build a neuromorphic system exclusively for the healthcare sector, in places where there are limited resources and paucity of specialists.
AI-based software do exist for apps used for diagnosis. However, this is the first time that a portable, low-power and cost-effective hardware has been developed to make AI-based systems available in areas with resource constraints.
While microscopy is most suitable for low-resource areas that are prone to diseases, these special equipment are rather expensive and require trained experts or technicians to operate them. Therefore, these are not feasible in places where there is already a dearth of resources, especially skilled technicians. In such a scenario, diagnosis is often based on observation of symptoms and clinical signs alone. Needless to say, such a process is not reliable and chances of errors are many.
Not surprisingly, treatment based on such erroneous diagnoses results in higher mortality and drug resistance. To add to that, there is the additional issue of having to purchase medicines unnecessarily.
The IIT researchers have managed to come up with the best, most reliable and cost-effective alternative that can ensure quality diagnosis and appropriate treatment, and is ideal for low-resource environments.

Objectives of the Workshop: The significance of Data and its effective analysis is unavoidable to have a good piece of research and to make a fruitful decision. From students to scholars, individual researchers to research institutes throughout the world come across this data analysis part to carry out their research. Statistics and statistical analysis play a crucial role in research and analyzing data. The aim of this workshop is to provide hands on training in understanding the concepts in data science and statistical analysis using R programming which is one of the most widely used open source package in the field of Data Science across the world. This workshop will help the participants in applying proper research methodology and improving their analysis by applying various statistical techniques using R programming. At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

ü  Get familiar with R programming language; 

ü  Understand statistical analysis using R programming;

ü  Explore how to analyze research data using R programming;

ü  Explore how to represent data using basic graphs in R.

ü  How to prepare presentation, document, web pages, blogs in R

Major Topics: The Scope of workshop is to cover theoretical discussion and practical exposure on the following aspects of statistical analysis using R:

ü  Introduction to R, Rstudio;

ü  Data types in R;

ü  Importing and handling data in R;

ü  Working with functions in R;

ü  Exploratory Data Analysis using R (Data Visualization);

ü  Descriptive Statistics (summary Measures) using R;

ü  Hypothesis Testing – I (Parametric);

ü  Hypothesis Testing – II (Non-Parametric);

ü  Analysis of Variance (One way ANOVA, Two way ANOVA);

ü  Simple and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis;

ü  Logistic Regression;

ü  Time Series Analysis;

ü Reproducible Research using R and Rstudio (knitr, rmarkdown, bookdown); and

ü  Website and Blog Management using R and Rstudio.

Resource Persons: The resource persons are prominent statisticians / scientists / professors / researchers / scholars in the field of statistics and data science across the country. They have an extensive experience with the application of statistical analysis in a research evaluation.

Target Participants: Academicians, Faculties, Current and Prospective Research Scholars, PG Students and UG Students from all disciplines. A maximum of 25-30 candidates will be selected for the training programme on First-Come-First-Serve basis.

Duration: One Week (06^th - 11^th May, 2019)

One week workshop includes all hands on practical sessions, Case Studies, Discussion Forum, Group Presentation.

Venue: The Workshop will be conducted at:

An IUC of University Grants Commission,

Infocity, Gandhinagar-382007 (Gujarat) India.

Workshop Fee: The registration fee is as said below:

a) Rs. 7,080.00 (Rupees Seven Thousand Eighty only) per person without accommodation; 

b) Rs.10,810.00 (Rupees Ten Thousand Eight Hundred Ten Only) with accommodation which is inclusive of GST rates.

It covers the cost of training programme kit containing training materials, breakfast, lunch and dinner during the training period. The payment should be made through Demand Draft in favour of INFLIBNET Centre payable at Gandhinagar along with filled-in registration form. Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable. The Centre also accepts payment by NEFT /RTGS for the workshop.

Accommodation: The Centre will arrange accommodation during the period of training at INFLIBNET Guest House (A/C Room) on twin sharing basis. The participants must send prior intimation and charges for accommodation along with registration fees. The accommodation will be provided first come first basis.
