ABOUT: The School of Business and Law at The University of Agder invites applications for a temporary full-time position as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Accounting and Auditing at the Department of Economics and Finance. The duration of the position, which is located at campus Kristiansand, is two years. Depending on the applicants’ profile and academic experience, it might be offered as a three year position including 33 % of the time assigned to tasks at the Faculty’s discretion. The starting date is in January 2019.
The position is funded by the Norwegian Research Council and connected to the project titled Internationalization of Financial Reporting and Auditing (ifra.uia.no). The focus of the project is on the relationship between financial reporting and auditing and their evolution at both the institutional and organisational level.
The School of Business and Law at the University of Agder is one of the major university-based business schools in Norway, with approximately 2000 students and around 80 faculty members. The Business School is currently in the process of AACSB accreditation. The School of Business and Law offers an active research environment with close collaboration between professors, post-doctoral research fellows and PhD-students.
Description of the position:
The research project focuses on the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), regulation, and auditing processes. The position focuses on research which advances our understanding of the changes in global accounting and auditing. The selected candidate is expected to contribute to the creation of new knowledge in this research area and publish in high-quality, international peer-reviewed journals. The position also entails working in collaboration with other contributors to the project and participation and/ or management of externally funded research applications and projects.
Qualifications and terms:
The successful applicant must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field at the start of the appointment. An essential part of the assessment of applicants is the quality of the research proposal and how it fits within the research agenda of the project. Strong qualifications in applied research methods are expected, and fluency in written and oral English is a prerequisite.
Personal suitability for the position and the ability to cooperate will also be emphasised.

The position is remunerated according to the State salary scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1352 Post-doctor, gross salary per year NOK 489 300 - 556 700. In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2 % compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
